3rd day of Thanksgiving

MWC has been battling a cough. Nothing too bad, just enough to bother her. But last night on our way home from church she was acting very tired and quite. And the minute she hit the bed, she was OUT! (very unusual for her) So of course I worried-thinking may need to go to the doctor. I let her sleep a little later for a "school day" going to see how she was when she woke up. She did feel better, but was still coughing. So we made the decision to keep her home. Not "doctor"worthy--just stay home, watch movies, stay in our pj's worthy!!! It got me thinking though-how fortunate I am to be able to choose IF we want to stay home or not. There are many moms who would LOVE to be home with their babies, and keep them home if they "just don't feel good." So today I was able to enjoy extra time with her and JDC--vegging out, watching movies, and reading books in our bed. I am VERY thankful today that I have the opportunity to stay home with my babies!!!

2nd Day of Thanksgiving...

This morning I set JDC down on the floor to play with a toy. When I returned a minute or so later this is what I found......

MWC was holding his hand and his foot! (By the time I got the picture she had let go of his hand!) Not sure if she was "showing" him how to play with the toy, or scooting him out of the way! But I would like to think she is showing!!! Lately, they have been "playing" together--mostly her showing him what to do with whatever toy is in front of him. But they still do love each other--he is constantly looking for her and she is always trying to make him laugh!!! That makes her day!!! So today I am thankful that my children enjoy "playing" together and love and adore each other dearly!!!!

30 Days of Thanksgiving....Day 1

So Kathy has set a challenge she had read about--for 30 days prior to Thanksgiving post each day something you are thankful for. Sounded like a GREAT idea and something I wanted to attempt. I am not sure if time (or children) will allow me to post each day...but I am going to give it my best shot. Like Kathy said, the things maybe small or big. But it is important to be thankful to the One who has given me all of these things!!!

So -I have to admit I was not feeling very thankful this morning. Just a lot going on--with lots of things on my "to-do" list!! I thought,"Great! I am not even going to make it the first day!!" But RDC knew of my frustration and was doing all he could to make it better.

However, by lunch things had turned around...not what was going on...just my attitude. When RDC came home for lunch, I told him, "you must have been praying hard this morning!!!" He just smiled!!!!

So today I am thankful for good attitudes!!! And that God can change attitudes--even if the circumstances have not changed!!!

Punkin' Pickn'

Today MWC and I were able to go with her class to a local pumpkin patch and pick a pumpkin. Not only did we get to pick a pumpkin but we got to go on a hayride, through a hay maze and see some animals. We had lots of fun being with some of our church buddies and I was able to meet some mommies of some of her new friends that she talks about. It was a GORGEOUS day and we had LOTS of fun being together!!!

A few firsts....

Last week, after RDC got home from work, we were able to take the kids to the park--being JDC's first time to be able to get on the swings. He LOVED it!!! He laughed and laughed!!! And luckily, MWC enjoyed pushing him some!! (I know that won't last, but last week she enjoyed it!!) I can see us spending lots of time there letting him swing!!!

As you can see, MWC is a proud new owner of a bicycle with training wheels!! She is sooo excited and doing great for just getting it!! Last week when we were riding, her little knees were about to hit the handle bars on her tricycle. So RDC and I decided it was time to upgrade!! She loves it!!! When it was time for us to go riding, I told her she needed to go and put her helmet on. She replied (in true Kaykay fashion), "I can't. It doesn't match." (her bike is Dora and her helmet is Disney princesses!!) I told her, "I am so sorry. You must wear your helmet--maybe Santa Clause will bring you a Dora helmet." She told me she will ask him "sweetly." :) So for now, she is mismatched, but does LOVE riding her new bike!! :)

Wish we were still here.....

...but we are back at home after a GREAT family vacation!!!! MWC LOVED it all-which we figured she would because she had a great time last year. There were a few kids around her age that were there, so she had a good time running around with them and all building sand castles together. JDC liked it too. He played in the sand and splashed in the water....both pool and ocean. All we pretty much did was the pool and the beach and we stopped at the outlet mall a couple of nights after dinner. One day one of the families rented a kayak (sp?) and only used it half the time so RDC and MWC got to have a turn!! Of course she loved that too!! They went pretty far out, and daddy was a little tired when they got back from all the paddling. When were almost home, MWC said, "Let's turn around and go back!!" And I have to admit I agreed. :)

We had so much fun and love it so much that RDC and I decided that we are going to try to go twice a year in the future. In May for a 4 day weekend and then back in September for our full week!!! Hopefully it all works out because it was so nice getting away from routine and spending time just the 4 of us!!!!

Here are just a few of our pictures and I will do a slide show of more of them.

Definitely one of my favorites from our trip!!!
