2 Years Old!

Yes~ she is! And yes~it has flown by!! MWC had a great day being the center of attention (as if she is not already :) But she was quite thrilled to have a "Bob and Larry" birthday cake. I was sweating her having a cake since most places are closed for Christmas. (Yes I know I could make her one homemade-but mine are not as good nor NEARLY as cute.) But thankfully we found a lady who does them out of her home and was more than happy to make her a cake. And boy was it good too! We had a great time having her grandparents, great grandmother, and aunts over to celebrate. It was a little sad for me, missing her being a baby and reliving the night she was born. Remembering how fun it was waiting to see if we were going to have a daughter or a son. And even when RDC said "We have a girl!" ~I did not believe him. I (along with most of the family) just knew that she was a boy. She surprised us then, just as she surprises us on a daily basis now. I could go on and on about what a great time we are having and how blessed we are to have her in our lives, but really no words can express how blessed I feel to be her mother and how very much we enjoy having our little girl. This is her playing in her Elmo tent that she got for her birthday. (saying "Cheese" for the camera.)

Christmas, Christmas, Christmas!!!

Well, I know Christmas was a few days ago, but this is the first chance I have had since we do birthday the next day, and she seems to be even busier than normal. (But we will post about birthday after we get Christmas done!!)

I was so excited about Christmas this year, I could hardly stand it!! The week before seemed soooo long. But it finally got here!! Christmas Eve we had a wonderful candlelight service at church and all of our family was able to be there. (Both sides!) We took up a whole row~but it was great! And MWC did wonderful. She sat through the whole thing. (With a little help from goldfish and juice at the end :) Christmas morning, we woke her up and began opening presents. Well--she would look at one thing and be happy!! And we would tell her "wait, look at this!" She was not interested in anything else, but we did get most of them opened. (Except one we kept until later.) So RDC and I would open our presents while she played. MWC got a shopping cart, that was a big hit, so she would walk around and "shop".

We are blessed enough to have most of our family here, and those who are not, are able to come home and be with us. So we got to see everyone on Christmas day!!

MWC was a great trooper even though she decided she did not need a nap AT ALL that day!! After about an hour in her bed singing, talking and playing, her sweet Daddy tried to lay down with her in our bed. She did lay still until he heard, "Bob, Larry, Bob, Larry.: (She absolutely LOVES Bob and Larry on the Veggie Tales!!) Anyway after about 30 minutes of that, we gave up. She was very quiet at supper with RDC's family, but she behaved well.

It was so much fun to watch her play and do such "little girl" things. She loves babies, lotion, and jewelry. (She and her aunt CVW are going to have fun times ahead!!) But it was more special to hold her in church with us as we focused on the reason we have this wonderful season. And to talk to her about Jesus and His birth and read the Christmas story on a child's level. It is just a great reminder of how simple but AWESOME that night was over 2000 years ago.

We Love Santa.....

..... well, maybe next year. As you can tell, our little precious was not that big of a fan of the ole Jolly one. As we waited in line, AWC kept asking her if she was ready to sit in Santa's lap and she repeatedly said "No." The closer we got, the more adamant she would get. As AWC sat down, it all started. I leaned in to Santa as they were sitting down and mentioned that she loves Bob and Larry from the Veggie Tales. There was a brief moment when he mentioned Bob and Larry that she stopped crying. It was the only split second you could have gotten a different expression on her face than the one in the picture. Well, as most parents with a two year old and wanting to have their children's picture taken with Santa say.... "Well, there's always next year."

Teenager in training...

At our house, every time the phone rings, MWC will say, "Daddy?" She thinks it is always him calling. This particular time, Daddy was on the phone and as usual she wanted to talk. And I can't hold the phone, she has to. She loves to walk around the den while "taking important calls". MWC will go sit on her couch or in her chair and chat. This time she proceeded to go to her Elmo chairs and get comfortable. (Notice the feet propped up.) She was in for a long, detailed conversation. So don't be surprised if you call our house and end up with a dissertation from our "Chatty Cathy".

LIGHTS!!!

MWC is really into lights this year. We ride down the road and hear "lights" then as we pass, she says "bye, bye." So we decided to take her into Canton to see the lights around the square. She loved them!! There were other things to do, such as ride a small train or horse and buggy. We opted for the train which took us all around the square. We turned the first corner and she began to squeal!! And then smiled the entire ride. Now--the carousel was not the same story. I would ask her, "do you want to ride on the horsey and go up and down?" Her response was usually "no", but we thought once we got her on it, she would be fine. Boy were we wrong!!! One thing about her, she knows what she does and does not want. So the three of us sat on a bench and rode the carousel. But it was a fun night for us all. Who knows, it might become a family tradition!!!!

Entering the "blog" world..

Well after much encouragement from my younger sister, we have decided to enter the blog world! RDC and I have been tossing around the idea about getting a web page for our family for quite some time. MWC has been doing so many cute things on a regular basis but it may not be enough for an update, but at least enough to post a picture and let everyone know about it. So this will replace the updates and give you a chance at your convenience to check it. It may not be daily and may not always be about MWC but it may be some random thoughts or letting you know what is going on with us. I promise that it will be on a regular basis-(not like the updates that have been obsolete lately)--sorry about that!! So hopefully, this will be something you enjoy and look forward to reading and keeping up with what is happening in our world!! Enjoy!!!
